Viscoelastic PUR Foams

Viscoelastic Foams or Memory Foams

Viscoelastic foams are also referred to as memory foams. Most viscoelastic foams change their physical properties in response to ambient temperatures. For example, they become very soft and flexible in the summer.

In the winter, with temperatures below zero, these foams become stiff and brittle. Some viscoelastic foams do not respond to ambient temperatures and retain their physical properties under all standard conditions. These viscoelastic foams have an open structure which prevents changes in physical properties in response to changing temperatures. In addition to stable physical properties, these foams are also characterised by higher breathability.

All viscoelastic foams are made from 90% TDI and polyol; the remaining 10% consists of proprietary formulations unique to each manufacturer/supplier. In some types of viscoelastic foams, TDI is replaced by MDI.

They are used as softening layers on mattress cores, seat cushions, etc.

These foams are available in bulk densities ranging from 40 kg/m³ to 85 kg/m³, with compression stress values between 1.0 kPa and 3.5 kPa.

The materials are produced in different colours.

They can be processed by cutting (horizontal, vertical), CNC contour cutting, die cutting, convoluting, milling, etc.
